It is warm, friendly, chic, vibrant and, literally, home away from home. Situated in downtown Auckland (in the middle of a High Street's fashion and Shortland Street's commerce), it consists of 25 luxury rooms, the famous HOUSEBAR, Debrett's Kitchen, a Courtyard, an Atrium and Cornerbar.
Debrett's Kitchen is at the heart of the hotel offering contemporary New Zealand cuisine. It was named as one of Auckland's top 50 restaurants in the Metro 2014 Restaurant of the Year Awards and it surely is a place to dine at, even if you are not staying in the Hotel.
What interests me is that it's also a perfect place to hold private intimate gatherings and small business meetings. Therefore, for team gatherings and small incentive groups, it has the Loft Suite 1.1, which can hold a maximum of 10 guests and is well equipped with a "projector, screen, electronic whiteboard, wireless internet, flipchart, markers, pencils and notepad." [I said, they are well equipped, eh?] Also, they have a slightly larger function room called The Cellar which can accommodate more guests and is also fully equipped for meetings or intimate gatherings.
There is the Atrium which is a 10 - metre high glass roof atrium that has lots of natural light and warm glowing fire during the winters, wonderfully decorated by Judy Darragh chandeliers. The Atrium, extremely chic in design, itself is a restaurant area on level one and can hold up to a maximum of 60 guests.
Separated from the Atrium is the Courtyard which is an internal space with glass ceilings and minimalist furniture, holding up to 12 people.
Lastly, the 25 rooms are warm, vibrant and boats contemporary New Zealand art and design. Extremely welcoming, perfect to simply relax or crash in after a long day of work! [I have a thing for rugs and this one surely seemed to be a beautiful sight - Check out their room rugs!]
